Elizabeth Brunette and the Mission of the Constantino Family Foundation: Honoring a Legacy Through Education and Service
Elizabeth Brunette, Treasurer of the Constantino Family Foundation, is dedicated to continuing her father's legacy of community service and educational access. The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, focuses its philanthropic efforts on providing scholarships to local students and supporting community organizations in the Bay Area. "My father, Paul J. Constantino was a pillar of the community - a devoted leader whose passion for service sparked my desire to continue his legacy through the Constantino Family Foundation," Liz says. The Foundation's vision is to empower the next generation through education, community engagement, and public service.
A Legacy Rooted in Service and Education
Liz's commitment to the Foundation's mission is deeply personal and shaped by her family's values. Her father, Paul, was a member of the College of San Mateo Faculty from 1975 to 1995 and a proponent of community college. His twin brother, the late Thomas L. Constantino, served on the San Mateo Community College District Board, eventually retiring as President and Trustee Emeritus. "The importance of and access to higher education was instilled in me from an early age," Liz reflects.
As the global head of Information Technology (IT) Asset Management at Amazon, where she has worked for 8 years, Liz brings strategic leadership and operational excellence to her role. Her dedication to service extends beyond her professional career, she is a Major in the United States Army Reserves with 14 years of military service since graduating from West Point in 2012. A champion of lifelong learning, Liz recently completed her MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. These experiences fuel her work at the Constantino Family Foundation, where she channels her passion for education and service into tangible support for students and community organizations.
Building the Foundation's Impact
Since its founding in late 2022, the Constantino Family Foundation has developed multiple avenues to give back to the community. The Foundation has established scholarships for students at the University of San Francisco and within the San Mateo County Community College District. Liz is particularly proud of the relationship developed with the University of San Francisco's Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program, which balances the Foundation's emphasis on education and public service. "This scholarship enables us to recognize and help ROTC students with unmet financial needs continue in the program and ultimately commission as U.S. Army officers," she explains.
Beyond scholarships, the Foundation launched a new microgrant program in 2025 that enables the community to submit grant proposals, which are evaluated on a quarterly basis. "This has been such a great way to support the invisible needs in our community," Liz notes. As Treasurer, she has provided transparency and fiduciary accountability for the Foundation in accordance with IRS 501(c)(3) regulations over the past four years (2022-2026). "Investing shrewdly and ensuring our accounting and financial stability is the unseen backbone of any non-profit entity!"
Looking Ahead: Expanding the Legacy
As the Foundation continues to grow, Liz remains committed to carrying out the legacy of Paul and Tom Constantino through the shared goal of supporting the community through education, community, and service. "In our inaugural year (2023), we focused on establishing scholarships and providing grants to organizations within our community that align with our mission," she says. "In the coming year and years ahead, our goal is to expand our impact and ensure that Paul and Tom's legacy will live on for generations."
Liz resides near Seattle, Washington with her husband, Colby Brunette, and their two children: daughter Adeline and son Arthur. Though far from her hometown of Burlingame, California, her commitment to the Bay Area community remains steadfast through her work with the Constantino Family Foundation.
The Foundation encourages donations and other forms of partnership. All contributions are tax-deductible and directly fund scholarships and microgrants, enabling the Foundation to continue making a tangible impact on students’ lives.
